Focus on the apricot
Fruit of the Prunus Armeniaca, the apricot is native of Central Asia.
Eaten as a snack or added to a recipe (mixed with dairy products or a fruit salad, for example) dried fruits provide appreciable energy value. For example, an average 50 g helping of dried apricots (5 to 6) provides approximately 135 k calories.
These calories are very useful for their nutritional value, providing, in particular, a good source of fibre, potassium and provitamin A...
In this way the apricot contributes towards an improved balanced diet for children and adolescents who use up large amounts of energy and enjoy large practical snacks. For active adults who feel the need to take a reconstituting break, for the elderly who often suffer from intestinal problems and who are looking for healthy and easily digestible treats (dried apricot puree is ideal).
Easy to carry and eat, dried apricots (less sticky than soft apricots) make an excellent snack and are a delicious ingredient for gourmet recipes !
Dried or soft apricots ? The dried apricots have quite simply been dried in the Turkish sun, whereas the soft apricots have been slowly rehydrated with water or steam to give them their soft texture.
Orange or brown apricots ? To guarantee an orange colour (close to a fresh fruit), the apricot is treated with sulphite (E220) during drying.
