Dietetics Characteristics

The hazelnut is one of the fruits with the highest trace element content (Chlorine, Iron, Copper, Magnesium and Zinc) and vitamins (A, B1, B2, B3, C and E), in addition to mineral elements (Calcium, Potassium, Phosphorus, Sulphur and Magnesium).
The fat content is made up of 88% unsaturated acids.

Focus on the hazelnut

Ennis

Of American origin with large fruit, clear and bright shell. Its flavour is average and impossible to skin.

Fertile de Coutard

Large calibre, round fruit table variety with a deep coloured thick shell. Its flesh is fairly firm with a pleasant aroma, easy to skin.

Corabel

An I.N.R.A (Institut National de Recherche Agronomique) variety with a large fruit, good gustative quality and easy to skin.

Pauetet

A variety in full development with a good gustative quality and easy to skin. This variety is also found in Spain.

Tombul

Also sold as "Sous le Vent" hazelnut. This small tasty hazelnut is produced in Turkey.

Négret

A very old Spanish variety with an excellent gustative quality. The flesh is white, very firm and with a strong aroma. Its Havana coloured skin is easily removed.

Tonda gentile delle Langhe

Common name ‘Piémont Round Nut’. The "best nut in the World". Very good gustative quality, its nut is highly appreciated by chocolate producers because of its size (0,9 to 1,3 g), and its facility to skin.

Tonda Romana or Romaine

Is harvested in orchards North of Rome. It is difficult to skin, however its taste is excellent.

Tonda Di Giffoni

Is found near Naples. Its ivory white flesh is firm and aromatic. Its Havana pink skin is easily removed. Fairly large calibre.
